Carolina Aero Marine Adventures Fishing Tip                          Spring 2007
Hungry Fish - April is here and the trout and redfish are hungry.  Water temperatures
have been ranging from the mid to upper sixties this month and it is causing the fish to
become quite active.  During the early part of the month we had numerous good fishing
days for trout, catching better than 50 trout each day.  Fish were caught on DOA’s under
a cork on both incoming and outgoing tides.

We also caught trout on top water baits early in the morning and just before dark.  If you
have not caught trout on top water you need to try it, it is quite addictive.  It won’t be long
now until decent amounts of bait will be showing up in the creeks.

Redfish are breaking up out of their larger winter schools and the patterns to catching
them will switch to more summer-like techniques.  If the water stays warm, start looking for
fish up on the grass flats on flood tides this month.  Various baits such as gulp shrimp and
crab imitations, grubs, and soft, plastic, jerk baits should continue to produce.

There are a few flounder being caught inshore, but expect them to become more plentiful
as we move into May.

Get out there on the water, April will be a hot month for trout and redfish!!!
